The Wildlings Summer Camp Coordinator

Season | June (flexible) - August 29, 2025
Schedule | Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
Hourly Rate |  $26-28/hr OR based on experience

  • Location : Heathcote & Metcalfe Rock, Ontario (2 camp locations)

    Employment Type : Seasonal (June (flexible) - August 29, 2025)

    Compensation : $26-$28/hour or based on experience

    Reports to : Supervisor

    Are you passionate about creating memorable summer experiences for children? Do you have strong organizational and leadership skills? We are looking for a Camp Coordinator to help plan, organize, and support our summer camp programs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for outdoor education and nature immersion programming with a high level of knowledge of the natural world. They will bring with them several years of experience in delivering forest school programming and leading teams of staff. They will be excited to elevate our summer camp programs with fresh and innovative programming while inspiring camp staff to get creative and deliver fun and safe nature immersion programming.

    Job Responsibilities

    Pre-Camp Duties:

    -Take inventory and procure necessary supplies for both camp locations

    -Plan and execute comprehensive staff training and Leader-in-Training (LIT) programs

    -Develop and distribute a weekly activity schedule for each camp

    -Review and update the Parent Camp Handbook as needed

    -Set up archery nets and inspect/repair equipment to ensure safety and functionality

    During Camp Duties:

    -Supervise and lead high quality, fun, and safe nature based camp programming

    -Keep staff motivated and inspired throughout the summer to keep programming quality high

    -Draft and send weekly Parent Camp Emails throughout the summer

    -Monitor the camp email () and address concerns with support from leadership

    -Provide on-site support and direction to camp staff, escalating issues as needed

    -Ensure staff submit timesheets and process them at the end of each pay period

    Qualifications & Skills:

    -Experience in camp coordination, outdoor education, or youth programming is preferred

    -Strong organizational and time-management skills

    -Ability to work collaboratively with camp staff, parents, and leadership

    -Knowledge of camp safety procedures and policies

    -Comfortable with administrative tasks, including email communication and scheduling

    - Demonstrated accountability with responsible use of company resources and time

Human Resources Administrator (Maternity Leave Contract) - Kimbercote and Feversham location

Contract | May 1, 2025 - November 1, 2026 (18 months)
Schedule | Flexible for the right candidate (16-30hrs/week)

    Employment Type : Part-time or Full-time (flexible for the right candidate)

    Reports to : Executive Director

    Contract : May 1, 2025 - November 1, 2026 (18 months)

    About us :

    We are a licensed non-profit forest school dedicated to providing children with nature-immersed, play-based learning experiences. With two locations, our programs foster curiosity, resilience, and a deep connection to the natural world. We are seeking a dedicated Human Resource Administrator to support our growing team and ensure smooth HR operations across both locations.

    Position Summary :

    The HR Administrator will be responsible for overseeing all human resource functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and HR administration. This role requires a proactive and organized professional with a passion for supporting educators in a dynamic, outdoor-focused environment.

    Key Responsibilities :

    1. Recruitment & Onboarding

    -Lead hiring processes, including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination and reference checks

    -Ensure new hires complete required documentation and certifications (First aid & Vulnerable sector)

    -Facilitate onboarding to integrate staff into the organization's culture and policies

    2. Employee Relations & Support

    -Act as a resource for staff, addressing HR related questions, concerns and workplace matters, and ensuring fair treatment

    -Foster a positive work environment by supporting staff well-being and engagement

    -Handle conflict resolution and performance discussions in collaboration with leadership

    3. Compliance & Policy Management

    -Ensure compliance with employment laws and child care regulations

    -Maintain and update HR policies & employee handbooks in collaboration with leadership

    4. HR Administration & Record Keeping

    -Maintain accurate employee records, including contracts, certifications, and payroll-related information

    -Track vacation, sick days, and other time-off requests

    -Assist with payroll preparation and benefits administration

    -Maintain clear communication with the bookkeeper ensuring information is up-to-date

    5. Organizational Support & Communication

    -Act as a liaison between staff and leadership to ensure effective communication

    -Support staff in program/kitchen

    -Participate in leadership meetings and provide HR insights to support decision making

    6. Scheduling / On-call Availability

    -Proactively manage schedules for approx. 30 staff across two locations, taking into account individual needs, organizational needs, time-off requests and personal accommodations

    -Manage schedules for 5-7 camp coordinators during July & August

    -Use time-off tracking methods to ensure efficient staffing and prevent gaps in coverage

    -Consider staff strengths and personalities to optimize team dynamics and classroom environments

    -Be prepared to work through several solutions when faced with last-minute absences (texting multiple people and coordinating who goes where, as well as updating necessary people, early in the morning and late at night, as well as weekends)

    7. Monitoring Celebrations & Milestones

    -Keeping track of birthdays and employment milestones such as probationary periods and annual anniversaries

    -Coordinating birthday treats for staff, or gifts for student placements

    8. Performance Reviews & General Reviews/Meetings

    -Collecting feedback from leadership

    -Consolidating feedback

    -Conducting reviews which consist of delivering positive and constructive criticism

    -Having difficult conversations regarding performance

    9. Student placements

    -Coordinating student placements & schedules

    -Corresponding with professor if necessary

    10. Labour Management

    -Monitoring employee hours, ensuring optimal staffing levels - preventing overstaffing to control labour costs and avoiding understaffing to reduce the risk of employee burnout.

    Qualifications & Skills :

    -Human resource experience

    -Knowledge of Ontario employment standards and child care regulations is an asset

    -Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    -Ability to multitask, work independently and change your work day on the fly

    -Experience in google workspace is an asset

    -Experience in managing scheduling
